XML : XML sanitizer and may I replace it with HTML one? [duplicate]

I have a project in Java that I need to sanitize json, html and xml data. I am using gson for json sanitation but I was wondering if what can I use for XML ? For example org.owasp.html.Sanitizers is for HTML, but can I use it to sanitize both XML and HTML.
